Staff report

Troy attorney Evan Williams has filed nomination papers in Harrisburg to run for judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Bradford County.

Volunteers from the Republican and Democratic parties obtained signatures of more than 1,800 Republicans and more than 600 Democrats, well exceeding the 250 threshold needed to get on each party's ballot for the May 19 primary.

A 1993 graduate of Cornell University and 1996 graduate of Cornell Law School, Williams practiced law for five years in Chicago. In 2002, he and his family returned to Bradford County, where he joined his father and six other lawyers in private practice.

Williams coaches numerous youth athletic teams, including football, baseball, soccer and basketball; and he serves on several non-profit boards, including the United Way of Bradford County, Western Alliance Emergency Services, Martha Lloyd Community Services, Western Bradford Development Authority, and Troy Little League.
